Social Justice at Hopedale and Beyond! – Update for April

Community Meal Center– We serve dinner on Friday, April 3. Join the Hopedale crew as we help our neighbors in need. Serve and assist at the Community Meal Center (Presbyterian Church of Hamilton), 23 South Front St. in Hamilton, on the First Friday of every month, 5-7:30 pm.  Please call Liz Woedl if you would like to know more or would like to carpool with her from Oxford, 513-280-1044.

Wednesday April 8, 2015- Speaker: Bill McKibben, Hall Auditorium, 7:00 p.m. The Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College will present “The Education of an Unlikely Activist” as part of the Humanities Center’s series called “The Anthropocene: A New Era in Human-Environmental Relations.” For McKibben’s bio, visit For tickets contact 513-529-3521. Hopedale’s Second Sunday Collection, April 12, will go to Sharefest, a service and environmental nonprofit corporation dedicated to the collection and redistribution of items donated by Miami University students and the Oxford community at the end of the academic year. Collected items benefit residents in need and social service agencies throughout the region.

On Sunday, April 12, 5pm, the Oxford NAACP are hosting their annual Freedom Fund Banquet in the Shriver Center Multi-Purpose Room, Miami U.  For tickets contact Patrick Meade at

Coffee, Tea, Community– Next meets on Tuesday, April 21, The Social Justice Committee invites Hopedale Members and Friends to meet for coffee, tea and discussion of various SJ interests, issues and concerns at Hopedale, usually on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

Oxford Community Choice Pantry– We are encouraging Hopedale members and friends, to become a shopping assistant at the OCCP, 400 W. Withrow Street. OCCP serves approximately 300 households in the Talawanda School District Area. You can find out more at or by calling 513-523-3851.
