The Social Justice Committee has made plans for the summer Social Justice Sundays, choosing a book “The End of Poverty” by Jeffrey D. Sachs for summer reading and discussion. With most of our justice activity focused on food inequities, it seemed like a good place to start. We have purchased 6 used copies of the summer book and two DVDs that will be available for borrowing at on Sundays before, during and after the sessions. We do have a companion video that we’ll use to help guide the study so though the book offers an depth study experience, you can still follow each weeks sessions and join in the discussion whether you read the book, or not.
On Sunday, June 1, we’ll begin with the introduction and chapter 1. Mark your calendar with the other Sundays: June 8, 15, 29 and July 13, 20, 27. We’ll be meeting in the sanctuary at 10:30am with child care available downstairs.
