We at Hopedale are already yearning for spring so we can get our hands into the soil to plant another year’s flower and vegetable gardens. Mary Fox, Pete Carels and Orie Loucks are often seen hard at work along with others who pitch in and make a bountiful community garden for sharing. We are well known for our amazing scarecrows.
Lauren Marsh told us about the “Gift Garden” at St. Raphael in Hamilton (photos above). They maintain a community garden there too, using raised beds and straw bales to make the work less a strain on the back muscles. They, as we do, find the work rewarding and inspirational. It’s heartening to know that others are also gardening for the common good of all.
