Members of the Hopedale UU Community were participants in the Unite Miami: Love is Our Resistance event on the Miami University Campus on October 25. It was heartwarming to see so many students, faculty and others in the larger community turn out for an afternoon of affirmed support for our GLBTQ neighbors and friends. There were also people on hand from the Heritage and Northern Hills UU churches.
The event was organized as a peaceful response to the visit of Westboro Baptist Church to Miami U. Only a handful of the WBC picketers visited the campus. In response to their message of Hate, hundreds rallied to a rousing chorus of Love.
